I found drivers that work with my 'Xilinx Platform Cable USB' model DLC9G. Although this specific device I am using has a Xilinx sticker on it, it is a cheap reproduction. I believe the real Xilinx device, as of time of writing, is called a 'PLATFORM CABLE USB II DLC10', part number HW-USB-II-G, which other people may be using.

I went to the Xilinx site and downloaded and installed the drivers and that did not work. So, I bought the DLC9G programmer plugged it into the USB port. I di not install any drivers, since the cable drivers were installed during the ISE WebPACK installation process. The message popped up: So, I clicked on it for detailed information: I went to the Device Manager and right-clicked one the Unknown device to update the driver.

Note that this readme file refers to my complete solution but you can only look at the parts that talk about the USB cable drivers if that's all you're interested in. Following that, you can just copy the 'double driver' folder if you just want to try installing the Xilinx USB cable drivers.

This was the only way I could get my FPGA programmer to work. To get my programming tool and drivers working in a windows 10 environment, I had to use a VMware VM (Virtual Machine) that runs a windows XP OS. This VM can be installed in a windows 10 (or other OS) and can run from there. The programming tool I use is an old version of Xilinx iMPACT (version 9.2). This download is just for demonstration and testing purposes. Again, the README.txt file should explain the core problem, purpose of this endeavor, and a basic instruction on how to use the solution I provided. Why am I uploading this solution here? For good karma, and I believe in, and depend on, the open-source community to solve crazy problems and simply get stuff done. The complete solution is about 2.2GB.

If youwant to plug some old or specific hardware and the Windows drivers are notsigned, you might need to disable the driver signature enforcement in Windows 10 (or Windows 8/8.1) because Windows will not allow you to install those unsigned drivers. The typical solution is to reboot Windows into Advanced Startup mode and disabledriver signature enforcement.

go to Start

hold [Shift]key and click on Restart

or go to Settings-> Update & Recovery->Recovery -> Restart now

or go to Settings

In searchoption type: Advanced Startup

(AdvancedStartup Options screen will appear.)

click on Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Startup settings -> Restart
